Much needed Russell Time
10 April 2021
After way to many weeks it was time to fly down to Worchester and restock Russell’s cookie supply.
The weather was accommodating with a broken layer over the green mountains and light to moderate turbulence but overall the weather was good enough to accomplish the mission at hand.
Jaimie was away at a Girl’s weekend so this was a man and his airplane affair. Takeoff and the flight down were uneventful – picking up our VFR clearance from Burlington as we crossed over the greens just north of Camels Hump. We deviated just a bit to the west so we could get a good picture of Sugar Bush were Scott and his buddies were enjoying their last ski day of the year.

Landing at ORH was uneventful and I got to pass over some early season baseball.

The FBO let me borrow their car so Russell and I could run out the New England Roast Beef Inc Restaurant for a sandwich and them up to Bancroft Towers for a picnic lunch and game of catch.

After lunch we ran a few errands then I dropped Russ off at his dorm and headed back to the airport.
Before taking off I did a quick walk through the Collins foundation hangar located next to the FBO. In it were a P40, Spitfire and a P38. I had seen the P40 and Spitfire before but the P38 was new.

Still I think the prettiest airplane on the line was still 95VT.

The flight home was again uneventful though I did have to deviate west through some buildups IVO Rutland, popping out into clear air again on the west side of the green mountains.

Overall way to quick of a trip and not enough time hanging out with Russell, but thank goodness for the RV that made even a few hours possible.

Looked like fun, wish I was there!
