Cooperstown, NY April 29, 2019

A tradition I tried to keep was to make a special trip with each kid when they turned 13 – becoming teenagers. With Russell we were a bit late as he is already 16 when we make this trip, but better late then never.

We made this trip to Cooperstown and the baseball hall of fame taking one of his baseball buddies. It has been a rainly spring but a call to Tom at Cooperstown airport confirmed the grass runway is in “good shape” – more on that later.

While we were all excited for the trip Russell assumed his normal flying posture.

We enjoyed smooth air over the very wild and remote Adirondack mountains.

When we arrived in Cooperstown the winds were calm so we landed to the south and taxied directly into a parking spot. Fortunately Tom was there and recommended a local cab service – which was actually an Uber.

Very unique wind sock

While we had gotten a bit of a late start we made it to the Hall with about 4 hours remaining . While this might have been enough time for many families – with two baseball fans we barely had enough time to make a quick pass through the muesum.

We had prearranged for the Uber/cab to meet us at closing for the 15 minute drive back to the airport. Chase took to the front seat for the ride home and seemed to enjoy flying.

A 45 minute flight home wrapped up a great day with my son and his friend.
